Barangay Ermita is under a state of calamity following a fire on Monday 7th, May, from 7am until 1:30pm. The fire razed over 262 houses and claimed the lives of three children. 850 families, and in total 2500 persons are now homeless.
Eleven Children of Asia beneficiaries and more than 100 of DICE children (Drop-in Center of Ermita), a welcoming center in which educators take care of young children (age 2 to 10) are now homeless and lost all their belongings.
This center aims to fight against social and educational exclusion, through a moral and material support, responding to their basic needs. Thereby, victims are now housed in the Baranguay gymnasium.
Local authorities (DSWD) provide first-aid assistance by giving them food and health kits.
However, those actions are temporary (only for 3 days) and Children of Asia wishes to provide a long-term help in order to give them better living conditions for the next years.
This fundraising will help our NGO Children of Asia to:
- respond to beneficiary families' immediate needs such as: roof, cooking kits and mats for sleeping, clothes and health supplies: tooth brush, slippers and soap.
Example of DICE beneficiaries: Dexter
Dexter, 5-year-old and his family are part of the victims: their house is razed to the ground. He suffers from a heart disease that requires emergency care and proper living conditions. This is why we count on your generosity and your help to support him and all DICE victims from the fire.
This is his house now:
So please donate ! Thank you in advance for all the support !
