The CORDILLERA PROJECT PHILIPPINES was created in 2016. I fell in love with the culture and people of the Cordilleras and I vowed to help them out in any way possible. This community outreach has reached three provinces-- Kalinga, Mountain Province and Benguet. During the course of the development of this endeavor, we identified three ways to further help the indigenous people of the Cordilleras- HEALTHCARE MISSION, EDUCATIONAL MISSION AND VOLUNTEER WORK. For the last two years, we have been to over 50 schools and several remote communities who are in dire need of help.

The “CORDILLERA PROJECT PHILIPPINES” was created in 2016. It is named initially “ The Kalinga Project ” because I made a pact to help indigenous communities in Kalinga. Back in 2015, I backpacked the Philippines and went to Kalinga to get a tattoo from Apo Whang-Od. Luckily, I got a tattoo and interview from the legendary tattoo lady and my guide is a teacher of one of schools in the remote villages. I fell in love with the culture and people and I vowed to help them out in any way possible.

Since March 2018, the project name has been renamed The Cordillera Project Philippines since it takes place not only in Kalinga but also in Mount Province, Benguet and other provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

What is the Purpose of the Project?

Two words: TO HELP. During the course of the development of this endeavor,  we identified three ways to further help the indigenous people of Kalinga and the Cordilleras- HEALTHCARE MISSION, EDUCATIONAL MISSION AND VOLUNTEER WORK.

Our Mission Statement is to provide sustainable healthcare, educational and volunteer support to the identified communities in the Cordilleran region, Luzon, Philippines.

What is the Healthcare Mission?

Healthcare Mission consists of two things; Medical and Feeding Program.

Medical Program is about assisting doctors, nurses and social workers in conducting physical check-ups and providing free medicines and supplies to the people. Volunteer doctors and nurses are most welcome to join the team.

The aim of the Feeding Program is to provide additional food aid to malnourished and stunted children of the region through partnering with organizations supporting feeding and nutrition-based programs .

What is the Educational Mission?

The aim of the Educational Mission is to introduce the students to different subjects outside the regular curricula. Here are some example topics/activities that can be covered such as:

● Arts & Crafts, Music, Dance, Theater & Drama

● Campus Journalism

● Sports, Games, Board Games

● Information & Communications Technology

● Cultural Exchange, Educational Film Showing

● Teaching Communicative English

● Teaching Major Foreign Languages

● Storytelling and Games with kids ages 4-6

● Care for the Environment

● Nutrition, Health & Wellness

What is Volunteer Work?

It is a means of extending help to the communities for specific tasks or activities without labor cost or pay. These are other ways to perform volunteer work:

● Farming

● Construction/Renovation

● Livelihood Programs

● Mural Painitings

● Eco-Projects

● Caring for the Elderly and PWDs

We are continously going back to the Cordilleras to provide free medical check-up and supplies, providing school supplies, bags, shoes and clothes to the students and the communities. We are extending assistance to he identified communities in dire need of help. I am very passionate in educating the youth to empower and better their lives in the future.
