Hi! I'm Bengbeng....
Gail Louise Obado a.k.a BengBeng was born on June 06, 2010. She was born healthy, adorable and normal baby. None of us would ever imagine that she will suffer from a very rare skin disease. BengBeng showed signs of this rare skin disease at the age of one year and six months. it started with skin rashes. When we noticed it we immediately consulted a pediatric doctor, said that it was just a simple skin rashes. We were not convinced as her rashes worsened as time goes by. We have consulted another doctor and said it might be a skin asthma but we are not yet okay with the diagnosis so we finally seek advice from a dermatologist. Without any further examination, the dermatologist concluded that BengBeng might have a rare skin disease called Itchyosis Vulgaris. The dermatologist handled BengBeng for over six months, but we decided to seek another advice from other dermatologist as her condition is getting aggravated. We have consulted one of the famous dermatologist in Pangasinan and she gave the same remarks that BengBeng might be suffering from Itchyosis Vulgaris, she recommended cetaphil to moisturize her skin and also prescribe some ointment. She did not require us to have any examination.
We have followed the doctor's advise about BengBeng's condition however we noticed that it seems like as she gets older, her skin is getting worse. Her skin all over her body is no longer normal, it is not just rashes anymore. her skin looks dry and so delicate. When she was about to turn four, we decided to take counsel from another specialist. We went to one of the biggest public hospitals in Manila. That was the time BengBeng had her first skin biopsy. To our surprised, the skin biopsy shows no problem. The hospital opted not to give any diagnosis yet. So they took another skin from BengBeng for her second biopsy. Unfortunately, it was the same result,no problem shown.
Her condition was getting worse and worse, she was slowly losing her hair, her joints are larger than usual, she is not gaining weight, she is not getting taller. At the age of five, we consulted another doctor from one of the biggest hospitals in Dagupan, Pangasinan. We also tried herbal medicines, food supplements, we tried everything. We tried all that they are suggesting. We already noticed more symptoms. Her eyes are bulging. We went to two of the biggest hospitals in Dagupan, they also couldn't give the right medication for BengBeng as they are not sure what her true illness is.
Bengbeng's condition is getting worst but we keep holding on..
At the age of six, one of the TV programs featured BengBeng's story, they also helped us consult another dermatologist in Manila. They also had another skin biopsy and had it examined at St. Lukes Hospital. The skin biopsy result shows that BengBeng has a Blood Cancer, they were not satisfied with the result so they requested to have another skin biopsy, but this time they examine not the skin but her neck lymph node. These biopsy were not easy for BengBeng. But because she is a fighter and she would like to enjoy her life as a kid, even though it was very painful, she is enduring it, because she said she would like to become a doctor someday. The forth biopsy of BengBeng showed Blood Cancer too. The doctor prescribed Isotab, she was taking Isotab for months but we decided not to continue it because we don't see any improvement at all, instead, BengBeng's condition seems unmanageable. Despite of the result that BengBeng has blood cancer, her reall illness remains mysterious because no doctors confirmed it.
They are still curing an unknown illness. She's been getting wounds all over her body, sometimes on the face, head, back and legs. There are times that she feels weak, she can't play, she barely talks, she can't eat or even sleep. BengBeng is the bravest kid I've ever known. Despite her condition she remains positive and cheerful.
Fight the Good Fight of FAITH
We decided not to go to faith healers anymore even if many people are suggesting it. We are done with faith healers, we decided to keep the faith to our good Lord. Yes, God is the answer, we are not blaming God for this, we feel blessed that He gave us BengBeng. She is our little fighter, she is an inspiration to many people. She is a blessing, despite of her rare skin disease she still manage to sing, dance, be happy and be positive. She is such a miracle. When BengBeng was featured to one of the TV programs, she started to get more followers on her facebook page at “Please pray for BengBeng”, a lot of people are sending us messages telling us that BengBeng is such an inspiration that no matter what we're going through in life, we should face it and keep the faith.
By the help of our good Lord, BengBeng is improving. We've been staying in the hospital for almost a month now, BengBeng is still confine at Baguio General Hospital. Everyday is a challenge for her but God is always with us. Our bill is getting higher everyday, the medicines for BengBeng are also very expensive. It is too much to handle for our family.
And so here we are knocking on your kind heart. Let us open our hearts for our little fighter BengBeng. Please be our blessing! Your help could save a life! BengBeng is a very kind kid, very cheerful, and full of dreams.
Your donation will go to BengBeng's hospital bill, medication, upcoming surgery and continuous treatment. BengBeng is truly an inspiration for us to fight and to have faith no matter what we may be facing. Above all, I know that she is God's reminder of love, hope and courage. Let us pray and help BengBeng! She is doing her mission very well. She is doing her purpose in life and we would like her to continue to inspire people. We don't need to be rich to help. Let us find joy in sharing our blessings!
Thank you very much and God bless!
