Let's fight against hunger and reach out to those who are in need.
With Duterte's Kitchen, walang matutulog na gutom.

Duterte's Kitchen is a small eatery named after the president Rodrigo Duterte in Cubao, Quezon City that serves free meals to street children daily, even hungry adults. The establishment, launched October 10, 2016, is run by PDP Laban and is fueled by volunteers and donations given by the people. During the first few weeks, the establishment only fed lugaw and champorado.

Though named after the president, President Duterte did not create this project. Alfonso Cusi is the mastermind behind the small eatery. He named it after the President as he was inspired by the small soup kitchens Pres. Duterte set up in Davao during the time he was mayor.

The kitchen is fortunate to have many volunteers and receive so many donations since Dexter Araquel's (project director) call for donations and help in social media. The word spread and eventually, there was a surge of volunteers and donations that led to the establishments development to what it is today.

According to May, a volunteer, she says "“It’s tiring but at the end of the day, worth it lahat. To see the kids, ‘yung smile nila and the mere fact nakilala ka na nila even if one day pa lang ini-spend mo sa kanila, ang sarap-sarap sa pakiramdam.”"

“It provides street children the means to uplift their lives. We have programs that will equip them with knowledge like teaching them to read. We are family to them,”

Glen Badon,
PDP-Laban national executive director

Aside from feeding the needy, Duterte's Kitchen also provide games and learning activities for children, such as programs that teach them to read and write and play an instrument.

However logistics is challenging. Sometimes we have more than enough rice supply, but have nowhere to store them. With Gava, we are able to centralize all donations into one account, and most importantly, have transparency. We want you to be able to see where your donations will go. We will update our states every week. You will also be able to select which food items you would like to give.

“Ang gusto kasi naming talagang ma-emphasize dito eh, yung kung  ano man yung ibibigay ninyo,  direct naibibigay namin sa mga bata. Higit sa lahat po, tumbukin na natin ‘yung nangyayari ngayon. Nandiyan yung spirit of volunteerism at gusto natin na kapwa Pilipino tutulong din sa kanilang kapwa Pilipino."

Dexter Araquel (Project Director)

About us:
Duterte's Kitchen came from a project of Duterte when he was still serving as mayor of Davao. There was this eatery serving free rice porridge for anyone who is hungry but has no money to buy food. Eventually, this was adopted by PDP-Laban. It is run only by donations and volunteers. We are located at 600 EDSA, Langley Building, between MRT Cubao Station (northbound) and the old SSS Cubao Bldg, near Farmers Plaza. We are open Mon-Sat.(7am-7pm).
