In recent days, everyone have been glued to what is happening in Marawi City, with Philippine armed forces and national police personnel deeply entrenched fighting terrorists from taking over the city, and the subsequent declaration of Martial Law by the president of the Philippines.
The outpouring of support from private and public entities to Maranaons have been unprecedented, not seen since Typhoon Yolanda hit the country in 2013. However, as always been the case, our poor soldiers and policemen seemed left out from privately funded financial assistance. Yes, words of encouragement matters, but it does not pay the bills.
Because of this, we are starting a fund enabling private citizens to donate on behalf of soldiers and policemen hurt, or, killed during the crisis in Marawi City. Funds generated will be given directly to these soldiers and policemen, or, their surviving family members. This is a small token to what they have already sacrificed for this country, and to their future hardships and sacrifices in an otherwise thankless profession.
